Pterygium Package

Pterygium is a triangular-shaped lesion extended from the conjunctiva onto the cornea. This lesion is shaped due to benign growth of conjunctival vessels and tissues.

At what age does Pterygium usually develop
  • It may occur at any age.
Treatment Methods
    • If the pterygium is small and does not have an unpleasant appearance and does not cause redness or irritation of the eyes, no special treatment is needed.
      If the pterygium becomes inflamed and causes irritation and redness of the eye, it can be treated with artificial tear drops or steroid drops.
      In severe cases, the only effective treatment is surgery.


Postoperative Care
  1. Use your eye drops regularly.
  2. Avoid rubbing or touching eyes for up to 24 hours after surgery.
  3. Avoid bathing for up to three days after surgery.
  4. Wear sunglasses.
  5. Follow your post-operative visits regularly.
Age Limit for Pterygium Surgery
  • There is no age limitation for pterygium surgery.
Symptoms

  3. Blurred vision
Preoperative Preparation
•    Inform your ophthalmologist about the routine medications you are taking.
•    Cleanse your eyelids and eyelashes.
•    Do not wear contact lenses.
•    Avoid wearing eye make-up on the day of surgery.
•    Eat light meals 12 hours before surgery.


Surgical Equipment
Pterygium surgery is performed on an outpatient setting, under local anesthesia using a special pterygium surgical instrument.
